How Hugo Protects Your Data

What we collect when you register, verify your account or make a deposit, and how you stay in control of it.

Hugo Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

This page explains, in plain terms, what personal data we collect from players in Ireland, why we collect it, and how you can ask us about it or ask us to delete it.

When you open a Hugo account you give us a small set of details: your name, date of birth, email address, mobile number and a password. We use this information for one purpose only, which is to run your account safely and to confirm you meet the 18+ minimum age requirement for gambling in Ireland. We do not sell this information to advertisers, and we do not share it with anyone outside the checks described below.

What we collect at registration

  • Full name and date of birth, to confirm you are 18 or over
  • Email address and mobile number, for account access and security alerts
  • A chosen username and password, stored in encrypted form
  • Country and preferred language, so support and promotions reach you correctly
  • IP address and device type, used for fraud prevention and to keep sessions secure

Identity verification (KYC)

Before a first withdrawal, and sometimes earlier if our security team flags an account, we ask for identity verification. This usually means a government-issued photo ID such as a passport or driving licence, and sometimes a recent proof of address like a utility bill or bank statement. This is standard practice across regulated and offshore casinos alike, and it protects both you and us from identity theft and underage play. Verification documents are stored securely, accessed only by trained compliance staff, and kept only as long as required to meet anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering obligations.

Payment data

When you deposit or withdraw using Visa, Mastercard, Revolut, bank transfer, MiFinity or a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin, Ethereum or Tether (USDT), the transaction is processed through the relevant payment provider or blockchain network, not stored on our own servers in full. We keep a record of transaction amounts, dates, currency and the last four digits of a card where relevant, so we can reconcile your balance, investigate disputes and meet financial record-keeping rules. We never see or store your full card number, card PIN or crypto wallet private keys. Amounts on your account and in your statements are always shown in EUR.

Cookies and similar technology

Hugo uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember your language and currency preference, and understand which games and pages are popular so we can improve the site. Some cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be switched off if you want to use the site normally, for example the session cookie that keeps you signed in. Others are optional analytics or marketing cookies, and you can accept or decline these through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or later by clearing your browser's cookie settings. Declining optional cookies does not affect your ability to play or withdraw.

Who your data is shared with

We share limited data with parties who need it to run the service: payment processors handling your deposit or withdrawal, identity verification providers checking your documents, game studios such as Pragmatic Play, Evolution Gaming and NetEnt where required for fair-play logs, and fraud-prevention services. We do not share your data with marketing companies outside Hugo unless you have separately opted in to a specific promotion. If you contact Problem Gambling Ireland or use a self-exclusion tool, that interaction is confidential to you and is not passed back to our marketing systems.

Your rights as a player

  • Ask us what personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate details on your account
  • Ask us to delete data we are not legally required to keep
  • Withdraw consent for marketing emails or SMS at any time
  • Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format

Some data, particularly verification documents and transaction history, must be retained for a set period even after a request to delete, because financial and anti-money-laundering rules require it. We will always tell you if this applies to your request rather than silently ignoring it.

Data retention and security

Account and transaction data is retained for as long as your account is active and for a further period afterwards to meet financial record-keeping obligations. Passwords are encrypted, sensitive documents are held on restricted-access systems, and staff access to verification files is logged. If you close your account, contact us using the details below to ask what happens to your remaining data.

The registered company name behind Hugo, along with our current licensing and registration details, is published in the site footer. Please confirm those details there before you register, as we do not repeat unverified company information on this page.
